グーグルが、Project Glass(プロジェクトグラス)という、
拡張現実とウエアラブルパソコンと検索とクラウドのデータを掛け合わせたサービスのテストをしていることが、
動画とともに公表されました。

この文章だけだと、何のこと？？
となってしまうので、まずは下記の動画をご覧ください。

この動画がアップされたのは、4月4日のことです。
私が見たときは、まだ320回しか再生されていなかったので、
意外と注目度が低いと思ったのですが、
次の日に、同じYouTubeを見に行ったら、再生回数が約480万回と表示されていました。

1時間に20万回の再生ですから、
3分動画をみていると、世界中で同時に1万人がみていたことになりますね。
膨大な再生数です。

グーグルが描く未来が実現すると、ノートパソコンが過去のものとなるかもしれません。
現在全盛のスマートフォンもメガネ型のコンピュータに置き換わっていくかもしれません。
少なくとも、あと5年くらいはかかりそうですが。

個人的にけっこうな衝撃だったので、
今月挑戦中の30日間のチャレンジのスカイプの英会話で、
話題として出してみようと思い英文を書いてみました。

本日はその文章を紹介して結びとします。

The things that attract me

Do you have any interests in your life?
As for me, computers are a big part of my life. Of course, I use a laptop at work because I am in a web business. I do not use desktop computers but a laptop. The reason why is it is easy to carry. I also have a smartphone.

I use my computers for a lot of different things. I do netsurfing and I make web sites. And I am always making and receiving emails. I do not need to read a regular newspaper because I visit all sorts of news sites on the web.

Facebook is one of my resources to obtain news as well. Some of my friends feed interesting news and links on their facebook.

Let me give you an example.
One day I viewed a timeline on my facebook and one of my friends gave news about ‘Project glasses’.
It is a new type of computer which is a wearable one. When you wear these glasses, there is a screen on your lens where you can find maps if you want. There is no keyboard. All you have to do is to speak aloud. The glasses understand what you say and lead you to the right place. If you would like to go to a sushi restaurant, the Google glasses would indicate how to get there. It is amazing. Although it cannot be launched yet, it is already an idea that can change the world completely.

Another thing that I am amazed about is that the video was up on YouTube on the 4th of April 2012. When I watched the video, it was only viewed 320 times. When I watched it again the next day, it is already viewed more than 4,000,000 times! It is viewed so many times!

I believe that not only me but also many people all over the world got excited with it. The technology drives to change the world. Therefore, I like computers and information technology.
